Recreation, Sport and Leisure

Clients playing netballAn active, healthy lifestyle is an important part of the recovery process. The Nelson Trust provides a range of opportunities for clients to get involved in physical activities through local sport and fitness providers.

Activities can include badminton, netball, football, squash and aerobics. The Trust regularly holds football and netball matches with local factories and the leisure centre staff.

We also run a popular monthly outdoor pursuits programme, where clients spend a day with a team of trained outdoor pursuit specialists at different locations. Clients can choose to participate in a range of activities such as canoeing, caving, orienteering, raft building, rock climbing, abseiling and archery. These activity days are great for team-building and good fun for everyone.

Recreational activities are also available at the treatment centre two evenings per week. Pool, card games, table tennis, art materials, music and tv are all on offer, and clients can arrange film evenings and quiz nights.
