Structured Day Programme
The Nelson Trust structured day programmes are designed for people with alcohol or substance misuse problems who, for a variety of reasons, cannot access residential programmes. The Day Care Programme may be a more practical choice for single parents, tenancy holders, carers etc.
What is it?
The Nelson Trust has over 25 years of substance misuse treatment experience, and considerable resources. These enable the following activities, workshops and groups to be offered:
- Recovery from eating disorders
- Anger and anxiety
- Assertiveness and communication skills
- Self esteem
- Parents in recovery
- Trauma recovery
- Gender issues
- Life skills
- A dedicated families programme
- A comprehensive education, training and employment department
- Accredited training programmes
Eligibility Criteria
- 17 years old minimum age
- At least 24 hours’ abstinence before commencing treatment
- Commitment to continued abstinence
- Fixed abode/accommodation within locality
- Completion of a Community Care Assessment Exclusion
- Certain Schedule 1 offenders
Day Care expectations of clients
- To remain drug and alcohol free
- To respect other members of the community
- To comply with safety and other regulations
- To refrain from illegal activity
- To engage fully in the programme
