Treatment Goals
'The goal of treatment is to reduce health, social, crime and other problems directly and/or indirectly related to substance misuse.' (Drug Misuse and Dependence, UK Guidelines on Clinical management. 2007).
We aim to provide effective psychosocial interventions that enable clients to achieve a better quality of living in all areas of their lives. We will work in collaborative, supportive and creative ways to ensure that all clients will have a positive treatment experience at the Nelson Trust.
Our aim is, that on completing The Nelson Trust treament programme process, clients will have:
- Improved physical and psychological health
- Increased confidence in their ability to make healthier choices, theirby reducing the risk of harm to themselves and/or others
- A structured plan of action for college or training opportunities that will move them towards gainful employment.
- Safe and appropriate move-on accommodation as a step towards independent living
- Effective relapse prevention strategies.
We aim to achieve these goals by:
- Providing an integrative care programme so that clients can remain free of substance misuse
- Establishing and maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment across all services and facilities
- Supporting clients by facilitating and providing assistance with education, training and employment placements
- Providing safe, supported housing for clients at each stage of their programme
- Giving practical and emotional support to clients who are "moving on" towards an independent lifestyle and permanent housing.
