Aftercare
The Aftercare service provides structure and support to Gloucestershire Service Users who have completed detox or who are completing any other structured drug or alcohol treatment. Aftercare can be accessed for up to a year after leaving treatment and can be re-entered at any time within that first year.
Building Recovery in Communities
The aim of Aftercare is to support individuals in early recovery, preventing relapse and a return to the treatment system. Aftercare has been carefully designed to meet the needs of those newly drug free and who are discovering a new way of life. Aftercare provides support in the community, helping people to sustain their drug free lifestyles, developing and building on their individual strengths.
Aftercare provides a range of options including group work, practical education, training and preparation for employment, support with relationships, families, housing, finances and counselling.
Workshops will include:
• Relapse Prevention
• Building Healthy Relationships
• Parenting Skills
• Communication Skills
• Problem Solving Skills
• Anxiety/Anger Management
A Specialist provision is available for parents and families.
Aftercare clients will learn coping skills, techniques and strategies, they will receive support with managing and improving family relationships and parenting skills, develop communication skills, make new drug free friends, and may even gain a recognised qualification.
For clients still receiving treatment, ask your Key Worker or Care Manager to refer you. We will meet you before your detox to ensure that you are familiar with staff. We can also help with your preparations for detox and being drug free. If you have left structured treatment within the last 12 months, you can contact us directly.
