Admission
On arrival at the Nelson Trust the client is greeted by one of the admissions staff, who will give them a copy of the Trust's handbook. This contains useful information, clear details of client expectations and relevant policies and procedures.
At this stage any outstanding information is collected and appropriate forms completed and distributed to all relevant departments. To assist with this process, new clients are asked to bring some form of personal identification with them such as a driving licence, passport or other official document. For clients in receipt of state benefits, written evidence from their benefit office will be required, together with a recent bank statement where applicable. Certain personal effects such as mobile phones will be held by the Trust for the first few weeks in treatment. Residential clients are then collected by a member of the House Support Team who will take them to their accommodation and explain the layout and rules of the house. They will also be introduced to their 'client buddy', who will support them whilst they adapt to their new environment. A period of induction will then begin. All new clients are registered with a local doctor on admission.
