Annual Lecture 2017

We are delighted to welcome Vicky Pryce back to The Nelson Trust. Vicky last joined us in 2016 when The Nelson Trust won recognition from The Howard League for Penal Reform. The Nelson Trust believes in the possibility of change and reform, something that Vicky has a personal affinity to. We are honoured that she is willing to share her story, along with how it has formed her opinions and inspired her latest book. Vicky will talk about women’s experiences of prison and the issues they face in custody. Using her own lived experience alongside robust economic analysis, she proposes a rethinking of the economic case for the Criminal Justice System. She will give an overview of her book, ‘Why Women need Quotas’, which is on general attitudes to women in society and also ‘Prisonomics’ building on her own experience and arguing the case for reform.
