The Nelson Trust is providing support to families and carers with their weekend seminar designed specifically for one or two family members or close friends.
The weekend organised by the local charity based in Gloucestershire, does not include the individual who has been affected by their own substance misuse or addiction but is for those who have been affected by the behaviour of that person. Often people may feel alone and isolated and feel they have no one to talk to. Addiction and substance misuse does not only affect the individual themselves but also their relationships with those they are closest to.
The weekend on Saturday 5th - Sunday 6th September provides a safe environment for friends and family to open up and share their experiences and feelings. The weekend includes workshops and practical strategies for managing communication with a substance misuser.
Meeting others in similar situations has shown itself to be immensely helpful and in some circumstances, appears to be beneficial in helping family members motivate their loved one into treatment or to abstain for substance misuse. Lunch and refreshments are provided. The weekend is free to those with a Gloucestershire address. To book your place or find out more contact Di or Fran on 01452 397692
