My name is Sarah kana-ah. I got involved with The Nelson Trust around two years ago, after going through some of the darkest times in my own life.
I’ve experienced domestic abuse as a child, lost my voice, my identity—and for a long time, I truly believed there was no way out. I masked my pain through substance use, feeling hopeless and alone.
But I found my way back. And when I did, I made a promise to myself, I would use my story to remind other women that hope is real, and that strength isn’t something you have to find outside of yourself—it’s already within you. That’s why I support The Nelson Trust.
I’ve donated empowerment bags filled with toiletries and makeup – small things but ones that help women feel seen, valued and reminded of their worth.
I’ve done talks to share my journey and offered encouragement to women who might feel as lost as I once did. Sometimes, just seeing someone who’s made it through can bring hope.
I stand with The Nelson Trust because every woman deserves to feel seen, heard, and believed in. If I can be a symbol of strength for even one woman, then everything I went through has meaning. There is life after pain—and it’s beautiful.
