The team at our Swindon Women's Centre will be hosting a night walk in remembrance of the 95 women and girls killed as a result of male violence in 2024 on Thursday, 24th April, from 7pm to 9pm.
After hearing the list of names of the 95 women and girls killed in the UK by male violence last year, the Swindon team want to take the time to honour the victims and offer support to those who have experienced or are experiencing male violence in Swindon.
On Thursday, 24th April at 7pm, the Swindon team and other local organisations will be walking from the women’s centre on Victoria Road to Queen’s Park, where the public and supporters will take part in a two-minute silence to honour the victims.
This is also an opportunity for the public to learn about the support services available to them in the county, hear from members of the team with lived experience, and pick up free harm reduction resources.
This walk is exclusively for remembering the victims and survivors of male violence, and for the public and individuals in need of support to learn about what local organisations have to offer. We ask that everyone attending to please be respectful of those around them, and of the streets and Queen’s Park.
If you, or someone you know has been affected by domestic violence, sexual abuse or assault and in need of support, please reach out to the following free helplines:
