Common Ground Community Garden
Common Ground Community Garden
Common Ground Community Garden is situated right in the heart of Gloucester, less than half a mile from our Gloucester Women’s Centre. In partnership with the Gloucestershire Community Foundation we’ve created a sustainable and thriving multi-purpose community garden project which is accessible and inclusive. It was the significant and overwhelming evidence of the therapeutic benefits of being outdoors in a natural environment that led directly to the development of Common Ground Community Garden.
We have created a community gardening programme that delivers practical, social, and therapeutic horticultural and conservation workshops and training, ranging from food growing, garden maintenance, nature conservation, garden crafts, and therapeutic well-being sessions.
It’s a space to enjoy an outside, natural garden space that specifically meets the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of the people who use the garden. As well as a safe space for people to learn, meet up or sit and enjoy some peace in an outdoor environment.
What's On
Alongside our free weekly activities, we host free workshops and other events throughout the year for everyone to enjoy.

Get involved
Our garden is open to all, including those who are looking to give back through volunteering. We welcome volunteers and community groups to help maintain our garden and participate in various activities. Your involvement not only contributes to a thriving garden for our local community, but also supports those in recovery.
Cultivating community, growing together
Our twin aims are firstly, using gardening sessions, craft workshops and events and the garden itself to create community connections within the neighbourhood to help with social isolation, loneliness, wellbeing and disadvantage. Secondly to use a trauma informed- and therapeutic approach in a horticultural environment to develop skill sets that empower individuals to reintegrate into community, either through ongoing volunteering or employment and help everyone access the benefits and rewards of growing, producing, crafting and volunteering.
