Our services are made possible through the generosity and support we receive from grant-giving trusts, foundations and organisations.
It is with this support that we are able to continue acting as a lifeline for those experiencing drug and alcohol use, and the multiple unmet needs in the community across the South West of England and Wales.
The Nelson Trust has a long history of working alongside grant-giving organisations to change lives of those impacted by drug and alcohol use, women in contact with the Justice System, domestic abuse, homelessness and families experiencing other unmet needs.
We are extremely proud of our association with trusts and foundations who champion recovery, communities, and rebuilding lives. We have a long history and proven track record of working for charitable trusts and organisations. You can trust us to spend the money you invest in our services wisely, working together to create a meaningful partnership and develop and deliver on shared goals.

Why fund The Nelson Trust?
Many people at risk of making contact with the Justice System have multiple unmet needs and this means needing support from health and other statutory services.
However, when these needs are addressed early and holistically, individual outcomes, which include diverting them away from offending behaviour, reduces demand on services, and allows for potential cost savings across the whole system.
For example, successful interventions coordinated through a women’s centre approach can avoid prosecution of offences that cost tax-payers thousands of pounds.
Why Commission Us
Operating a co-commissioned model of funding not only ensures that our services are sustainable but also meets the shared health outcome objectives of statutory providers. We offer:
- A suite of specialised evidence based services to individuals with complex needs
- Demonstrable positive outcomes in relation to an individuals health, education and employment, reduction in offending, and housing
- Deliver to an excellent standard, on budget and as per contractually required
- Our service delivery models have the benefit of adding integrity to a localities infrastructure through engaging with hard to reach communities
