Celebrating 40 years of The Nelson Trust!
2024 has flown by—what a year it’s been! As we say goodbye to a whirlwind year, we look forward to what 2025 will bring. For The Nelson Trust, it’s especially exciting as we’ll be celebrating our 40th anniversary!
The Nelson Trust was founded in 1985 by Roy and Mary Brash as a residential treatment centre in Stroud. It soon expanded into recovery housing and became one of the UK’s first treatment centres to deliver gender-specific, evidence-based, and trauma-informed programmes.
Today, we operate five women’s centres across the South West and, as of 2024, four women’s centres in Wales through partnerships with Welsh organisations dedicated to supporting women and young adults. We’re proud to lead the One Wales partnership.
Our services also include four single-gender residential treatment centres, three recovery houses, and five Hub enterprises, supporting individuals in gaining meaningful life skills and work experience as they integrate back in to their communities. Recently, we transformed our Common Ground Community Garden with new features, such as a weatherproof hut and a polytunnel, for the Gloucestershire community to enjoy.
Thanks to our remarkable staff, volunteers, and clients, we’ve set industry standards for over four decades.
To celebrate our 40th anniversary, we have a fantastic line-up of events planned for 2025 for staff, supporters, and clients, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you!
In the meantime, here’s a sneak peek at our 40th-anniversary logo—look out for it in the new year!
