None of this would have been possible without the support of The Nelson Trust, and I'm more than grateful I've been given this opportunity to help, and make change possible.

I had a difficult upbringing. I lost a parent to suicide, experienced abuse within my family and eventually ended up in care homes and foster placements.
I got pregnant at 12 and was back in an abusive home. I then lost custody of my baby, having to leave my baby in a home that wasn’t safe. At that point, I was back in the cycle with social services and homeless with little support.
I then got in with the wrong people, abusive relationships and found myself in and out of custody. Everything took a huge toll on me and lead me to a dangerous relationship with drugs and alcohol, as well as doing what I can to support my addiction.
I first met The Nelson Trust after my social worker referred me. I’ve now been coming to the centre for over 10 years.
The Nelson Trust has supported me in so many ways. They’ve supported me with grants for home furnishings, clothing, food, support with social services, probation and drug use.
With the help of them, I’ve changed my whole life around, and myself for the better.
I am so proud to be working for The Nelson Trust, and I am so happy I can now give back to other women.
