The Nelson Trust is so much more than just a women’s centre to me. It is my safe place- a place where I feel accepted, welcomed, valued, and genuinely cared for. It has given me hope, strength, and the confidence to keep moving forwards, even on the hardest days.
Before I came to The Nelson Trust I had completely lost who I was. I couldn’t see my own worth anymore, and I felt like I’d lost all hope.
From the moment I walked through the doors, I was welcomed with kindness, understanding, and without judgment. With the support, care and encouragement of my keyworker Ellie, and every single member of the team, I have slowly started to find myself again. They all believed in me when I couldn’t believe in myself, and because of them, I can finally see the light again and recognise my own worth.

I call all of the staff at the centre my angels because that’s exactly what they are to me. Every single one of them has such a pure heart, and they have shown me compassion, patience, and unconditional support when I needed it most. I honestly don’t think they realise just how incredible they are or how many lives they change simply by being who they are.
Without the ‘Nelly T’ girls, I truly don’t know where I would be today. The Nelson Trust became the lifeline I never realised I needed, and it has changed my life in ways I will always be grateful for. Thank you for helping me find myself again, for reminding me that I matter, and for giving me hope when I thought I had none left. I will never be able to put into words just how much you all mean to me.
